Editor’s note: We are introducing additional information in this edition of Ohio Contractor magazine. OCA staff are frequently asked about the trends of ODOT lettings. While means and methods of learning about projects leading up to bid day are readily available, it’s also important to see the big picture of how ODOT’s program is evolving over the course of the year.
So that OCA members are better informed, we are introducing a collection of graphs that tell you, by ODOT district and in total, how many projects ODOT has sold; the amounts awarded; and how many of those projects were awarded to OCA member and non-member firms in the current state fiscal year (July 1-June 30).
While we would hope every construction company that is awarded ODOT work is an OCA member – and the majority of ODOT’s capital program work is being performed by OCA members – some firms elect to reap the benefits of OCA but won’t “pay the freight.” Hopefully, armed with more information, you can be better informed to become a champion for OCA membership with these companies. While we can’t list them, I’ll bet you know of more than a few non-member companies that you do business with on a frequent basis. For us at OCA, more voices mean garnering more attention and support from decision-makers. Please consider becoming a champion for the trade association that supports your business and staff development.
