Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) CEO Stephen Sandherr, who has led the national trades association for 27 years and served in various capacities of the organization for 37 years, recently announced he will retire March 31, 2024.
Following Sandherr as AGC CEO will be Jeffrey Shoaf, a more than 30-year veteran of the association who is currently serving as AGC’s COO.
“While we support Steve moving on to the next phase of his life, our members are grateful for his strong leadership for more than a quarter of a century,” said AGC National President Lester C. Snyder III. “He has built a fantastic team at AGC, elevated our advocacy efforts and committed the organization to address all issues affecting the construction industry.”
Sandherr spoke at this year’s OCA Business Meeting held on the second day of the 2023 Winter Conference.
Shoaf joined AGC in 1994 and was named its COO in 2017. Prior to his current position, Shoaf oversaw AGC’s Government Relations activities. Before joining the association, Shoaf, a graduate of James Madison University, was a staff member for the U.S. House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.
Headquartered in Arlington, Va., AGC is the trades association for the commercial construction industry with 89 chapters, including OCA, and more than 27,000 member firms.
